I kept the same schedule as week 1 and it worked out perfectly. This week though I added a few new running accessories to my arsenal. In thinking about how to document this journey I knew I needed to be taking pictures and getting my phone out of my running belt was too cumbersome and took too much time. A new solution was needed. So during my search I thought ahead to what other requirements or needs I may have in the rest of this journey. The first thing that came to mind was a place to store my earbud pod, keys, and water during the long runs. The running belt I used previously could hold the keys easily enough and as long as I hooked them in they would not fall out. The earbud pod and water was a different story though. The pod continually managed to wiggle its way out of the belt and the 6 ounce water bottle weighed down the belt and made it uncomfortable.
After some searching I selected a running backpack/vest and a Camelback hydration pack. I felt this would ensure I had the right amount of water and storage to get me through the runs and help me chronicle the whole thing.
The other big change this week was the addition of a Peloton to the mix. To be fair, we ordered it almost a month ago but it finally showed up so we could use it. I plan to complete rides on my running off days.
Hudson had soccer practice again on Tuesday so a run through the park seemed like a great way to pass the time waiting for the end of practice for W2D1. It started to sprinkle for the last third of the run and luckily for me the heavy downpour didn’t occur until I was safely back inside my car. The backpack was a little uncomfortable but I believe it was due to me not having the straps and the right tightnesses. It was cooler overall and made the run easier.
Thursday afternoon I had plans to play golf with the Hville crew so I got up early and knocked out W2D2. It was cool again and the neighborhood was still lazy. The backpack rubbed my neck a little, but again I think this was due to it not be fit right.
I didn’t sleep well Friday night and was wide away early Saturday morning. Might as well make the most of it so out I went. I didn’t make it through the warm up walk before it started sprinkling. At the turn it was coming down. Ignoring the rain, I plodded onward and completed W2D3. With that done, it was time to watch football!
