I learned last time that Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday were the best days for me to run. So that is the schedule I decided to follow this time around. However, I wasn’t feeling very well at the beginning of the week and decided to push out my start date to Wednesday. Part of me was dreading starting and part of me was excited to get going again. I got home from work Wednesday after and once a quick rain shower passed I set out on the W1D1 30 total minute run. It was actually easier than I was expecting and I was able to finish pretty easily.

I created custom workouts in Garmin Connect where my Fenix 5 would alert me when to run versus walk. Unfortunately, I had a small issue and instead of selecting run for 1 minute, I selected 1 mile. I was really confused why my watch hadn’t told me to walk yet! I also had a problem where my run’s map was not showing up once I completed it. Usually I can pull up the activity and see my route via GPS. However, for this run there was nothing.

I realized that I had plans on Friday and Sunday that would cause issues with my schedule change so I ended up breaking my own rule of not skipping the days off. This change would have me running on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, meaning a Wednesday/Thursday back to back. Hudson had soccer practice on Thursday so I decided to do my run there at the park since they have miles of walking and running trails. And just like the day before my run’s map was completely missing. I was clearly doing something wrong.

Saturdays are for the boys! That means college football for those of you who aren’t familiar. As a result, Saturday’s run would need to be in the morning. With a run behind me I could I could watch football all day with no guilt. I find that I am slower in the mornings than the afternoons. Again, I wonder if it is a nutrition thing? I was able to figure out why my maps weren’t showing up and got that issue resolved.

Week 1 is in the books though and it feels good to be back at it.
